You are invited to take part in a research project “Dundee Cultural Recovery” that aims to generate insights into the impact of the pandemic on Dundee’s cultural and creative economy what support is needed for the City’s cultural recovery.
Building on work undertaken by the Cultural Development group of the Dundee Partnership, this research project aims to generate insights into the impact of the pandemic on the organisations and individual cultural workers (specifically freelancers and sole traders) who make up Dundee’s cultural economy, the strategies they are adopting as organisations and creative entrepreneurs, and the role of policy in supporting Dundee’s cultural recovery. It will directly feed into the Covid Recovery Plan being developed by the Cultural Development Group.
We are looking for participants to take part in online focus groups that will take place on the 24th and 25th June 2021. Each will focus on a different stakeholder group:
- Creative organisations (24th June 10am-12pm)
- Cultural Policymakers (24th June, 2pm-4pm)
- Creative workers – freelancers & sole traders (25th June 10am-12pm)
Each focus group will last up to two hours and will take place online using Microsoft Teams and an interactive Google Jamboard. In recognition of the time taken out of a working day to take part in this research project, we are offering a voucher of £40 to all freelancers and sole traders which can be claimed after the event.
The research is a collaboration between the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee, Leisure & Culture Dundee, Dundee City Council Events Team, and members of the DISCE team from King’s College London. The project is led by Dr Lauren England (University of Dundee).
